Skateboarding history: defying gravity and breaking records

In the world of skateboarding, few feats are as impressive as conquering a massive ramp. And when it comes to massive ramps, none are more impressive than the one that Danny Way took on back in 2005. This ramp was a towering 70 feet tall, making it the tallest skateboard ramp ever built.

The ramp was designed by professional skateboarder and ramp builder, Joe Ciaglia. It was constructed in the parking lot of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The ramp was a true marvel of engineering, consisting of four separate sections that were lifted into place by cranes. The entire construction process took more than a month to complete.

Danny Way was the chosen skater to take on this mammoth ramp. Way is a skateboarding legend, known for his fearless approach to vert ramps and big air contests. He was the perfect candidate to take on this incredible challenge.

On July 9th, 2005, Danny Way stepped onto the top of the ramp and prepared to drop in. It was a buzzing crowd, and the tension was palpable. Way pushed off and quickly gained speed as he headed down the ramp. As he reached the top of the ramp, he launched himself into the air, soaring higher than anyone had ever gone before.

Way executed a flawless backflip, spinning 360 degrees before landing back on the ramp. The crowd went mental as he continued to skate the rest of the ramp with ease. It was a historic moment in the world of skateboarding, and it solidified Way's reputation as one of the greatest skateboarders of all time.

But the story of the 70-foot ramp didn't end there. In 2006, Way returned to the ramp and attempted to jump over the Great Wall of China on a skateboard. Unfortunately, he didn't make the jump, and he suffered serious injuries as a result. But even in failure, Way's attempt was a testament to his courage and his willingness to push the boundaries of what was possible on a skateboard.

The 70-foot ramp may not be standing anymore, but it will always be remembered as one of the most impressive feats in the history of skateboarding. And Danny Way will always be remembered as the skater who conquered it.
