Skate life isn’t for everyone

Danny Way, the legend behind multiple records of skateboarding of all time, has opened up about his use of steroid injections to manage the chronic pain resulting from his career.

Way, who is known for his daring feats such as jumping the Great Wall of China and breaking the world record for the highest air on a skateboard, said he relies on steroids to improve his physicality and make his body function.

He posted on Instagram: "Skate life isn’t for everyone, I’m so grateful for getting a default education in medical school and learning what I have from the best Dr. William J Previte, Paul Chek, Dr. David William Fabi and the rest of the gurus. Thanks Paul Rodriguez for the session. Damon Way, Tashen Way, SinceWhen."

Way's use of steroids is not intended to give him a competitive edge, but rather to cope with the damage that professional skateboarding has inflicted on his body. He has suffered numerous injuries throughout his career, including breaking his neck twice, tearing his ACL four times, and fracturing his skull.

Steroids are controversial in sports, but Way's case is unique. He is not competing in any official events or leagues, but rather pursuing his own personal challenges.

Way is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern skateboarding, having invented several tricks and influenced generations of skaters. He is also a successful entrepreneur, having co-founded DC Shoes and Plan B Skateboards.
