If you research the best skatepark in the United States, the answer is usually not a surprising one. Many, perhaps most, rankings of American skateparks are topped by Burnside, the iconic park in Portland, Oregon. However, instead of quality, what about quantity? What is the biggest skatepark in America? For that, you have to go to Des Moines, Iowa.

Yes, the largest skatepark in the United States is in Des Moines. Lauridsen Skatepark opened in May 2021 and became the biggest open park in the country. We’re talking 88,000 square feet. That’s huge! It also seems to be pretty solid, as the Dew Tour has stopped by there. Des Moines actually has a reputation as a pretty cool city, sort of a liberal haven in the state of Iowa.
