Gui Khury Just Made Park Contest History in Rome

The 900 has officially hit the bowl
DOSE CREW  |

Over the weekend in Rome, 16-year-old Brazilian vert wonder Gui Khury broke the simulation again—this time in a park contest, stomping a legit 900 not once, not twice, but three times across semis and finals at the WST World Cup season opener.

The scene? The Spot Skatepark, tucked into the chaos of Italy’s Eternal City, packed with sweaty fans and even sweatier skaters. The energy? Somewhere between a hardcore show and a gladiator fight. When Gui spun that first 900 in the semis, the stands straight-up lost their minds. Then he did it again. And again.

Let’s not forget, this isn’t mega ramp or vert ramp—this is park, where the transitions hit weird and the air isn’t always guaranteed. Pulling that off under contest pressure is like nailing a backflip on a pogo stick… blindfolded.

Gui ended up placing 3rd, but who cares about the trophy when you’ve rewritten what’s possible? Spain’s Egoitz Bijueska took the top spot (with flow like melted wax), and Japan’s tech wizard Yuro Nagahara landed in 2nd. Still, the moment belonged to Gui.

Next up, WST’s moving from bowls to ledges as the Street event kicks off in Parco Colle Oppio—yes, literally in the shadow of the Colosseum. Then it’s off to Washington, D.C. in September for the 2025 World Championships. You can bet eyes will be on Gui to see what impossible thing he’ll make look easy next.
