Livingston Skatepark is Trying to Become a Listed Site in Scotland
The idea of being a “listed site” is effectively it designates you as historically significant. Basically, you are acknowledged as being a significant site worth preserving for future generations. Much of the time, these listed sites in Europe are castles or churches. One skatepark in Scotland, though, is trying to join the litany of listed sites in the country.
Livingston Skatepark was built in 1981, and it has largely remained untouched, aside from being touched up. It is considered one of the last “vintage-style” skateparks out there and is renowned around the world. Even Tony Hawk has been there. In 2021, an effort was launched to get Historical Environment Scotland to designate it as a listed site, and that bid is in line for a new consultation. If Livingston Skatepark gets the nod, it will be the second skatepark in Europe considered a listed site, after the Rom Skatepark in East London.
