The Hardflip Explained

Learn how to do a hardflip like a pro

Another day, another trick. Today we're gonna learn how to do one of the sickest tricks in the game - the hardflip. This trick is no joke, and it takes a lot of skill and practice to get it down, but with some dedication and perseverance, you'll be flipping like a boss in no time.

First off, you gotta have your ollies on lock. Your pop needs to be high enough to get the board off the ground, so make sure you're comfortable with popping that tail. Next, you need to have your kickflips dialed. You should be able to flip that board with ease and catch it with your front foot.

Now, onto the hardflip. Start by setting up your feet in the same position as a kickflip - your front foot angled towards the nose of the board, and your back foot on the tail. But here's the kicker - you want to position your back foot slightly more towards the heel edge of the board.

As you start to pop the board, slide your front foot up towards the nose, just like a kickflip. But at the same time, you want to flick your back foot out diagonally towards the nose of the board. This flick will cause the board to flip on its axis, so make sure you give it a good snap.

As the board flips, you need to jump and get your feet out of the way. Your front foot will be catching the board just like a kickflip, but your back foot needs to get out of the way quickly so that the board can complete its rotation.

Once you've caught the board with your front foot, use your back foot to level it out and ride away clean. It might take a few tries to get the timing and foot positioning down, but keep at it and you'll be landing hardflips in no time.
