How To Backside 180 Heelflip
If you want to learn how to do a backside heelflip, you need to know a few things first.
Foot Positioning and Board Placement
A backside heelflip is a combo of a backside 180 and a heelflip, so make sure you can do both of those tricks well. Your back foot should be on the tail, pushing down on your big toe, and your front foot should be in the middle of the board, with your toes hanging off a bit.
Techniques and Timing
Here's how to do it: Push down on the ball of your front foot before you pop. You also need some speed to keep rolling after you land. Before you pop, twist your body a little bit the other way, then let it go as you flick your front foot for the heelflip. Keep your back straight and push down on the toe-side of the board. Pop the board with your back foot like you would for a backside 180 or a pop shove-it. Try different positions for your back foot to get the right pop and swipe. Bring your knees up after you pop to let the board flip. Kick and flick your front foot forward, like a heelflip but harder. This makes the board flip under you.
Mastering Board Rotation
When the board is done flipping, get ready to land switch (or fakie). If the board doesn't turn all the way, you can slide it a little bit. Landing with your shoulders turned looks cool, and with practice, you can land without sliding. Your back foot will be in front now, and you'll roll switch, so it helps to be good at riding switch for a smooth landing.
