Hackney Bumps Gets A Repolish
The only people who rode Hackney Bumps regularly were individuals who did so purely out of convenience due to the area's crumbling pavement. It was more than difficult to skate.
Nick Tombs and Greg King were two of those skaters, and they frequently expressed their eagerness for someone actually to take action. Nick and Greg were unemployed when the pandemic struck, which was pretty much a blessing. So, they believed that perhaps it was up to them to get the job done.
Years of enjoyment at Hackney Bumps came to an end when the skate culture, which was severely underfunded, allowed couldn't prevent the deterioration, and the place finally turned into a dump for burned-out motorcycles.
As soon as word got out that two boys were manually scrubbing the park with two grinders, a group of volunteers joined them. One of the volunteers was Daryl Nobbs; in addition to donating polishing equipment, he also helped design new quarter pipes, flat bank hip to wallrides, some ledges, and a flat bar.
