Watch Some of the Biggest Spills of Olympic Skateboarding
For many years in the United States, there was a TV show called Wide World of Sports. Its tagline was, “The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat.” That “agony” part involved a ski jumper totally wiping out. Which is to say people have long held an interest in the fails of sports, almost as much as the great successes. Skateboarders are not unfamiliar with that. In fact, skaters wipe out, bail, and crash as much as any athletes. Even the Olympics know that now.
NBC, who airs the Olympics in the United States, put together a compilation of street skateboarding spills from the Tokyo Olympics. This is the first time skateboarding has been an Olympic sport, and this may be the first Olympic fails video ever. It won’t be the last, though. No skaters got seriously hurt and all these skaters got up and, if they had work left to do, continued their runs. Because that’s as much what skateboarding is all about as anything else. Check out the video above.
