UK Skateboarder Aiming For Guinness World Record With 300-Mile Skate For Charity
Ryan Swain from Yorkshire will be attempting to set a new world record for the Guinness Book Of Records in aid of his desired charity, Mind. Ryan's challenge is to beat the current record of the longest distance traveled on a skateboard in 24 hours. This will be going down at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire on Monday, 8th May 2023, as it might be a bit nippy if he went for it now!
This also gives Ryan enough time to train and get in the right shape for his target of 300 miles, which is the equivalent of 12 full marathons in one single day! Currently, the record for the longest distance traveled in 24 hours on a skateboard is 431.32 km (261.9 miles), held by Andrew Andras, Florida, USA.
In an interview, Ryan stated, "This is going to be the biggest challenge of my life and certainly the hardest. I need to remain focused, dedicated and integral to my training as an athlete. I am so happy that the official Guinness World Records have approved my challenge and that I'm able to have a chance at bringing a new personal achievement and potential world record back to the UK and to my home in Yorkshire."
