5 THPS Spots That Exist In Real Life
It's guaranteed that if you've ever played a Tony Hawk game, you've seen at least one skate spot during gameplay where you picture what it would be like to skate in real life.
Here is a list that will blow your mind as you see them in their real form.
1. THPS1 - LOMBARD STREET
Lombard Street is originally known for the one-way block on Russian Hill between Hyde and Leavenworth Streets, where eight sharp turns are said to make it the most crooked street in the world, and this famous spot was featured in the THPS1 version of the San Francisco level. Now, this road is known by the skate community thanks to its special feature on THPS. Many people have tried skating this in real life, and you can see various attempts on YouTube.
2. Venice - THE PIT, GRAFFITI PARK, VENICE PAVILION
This famous spot was featured in THPS2, THUG1, and even THPSHD. You may remember this spot from Chad Muska's video part in Shorty's Guilty in 2001, where he beasts out a gracious ollie from the pavilion roof down to the bench. However, this spot was sadly demolished shortly before the release of THPS2. Instead, there is now a newer skatepark nearby, just as famous as the OG spot.
3. FDR SKATEPARK, PHILADELPHIA
This sacred world-renowned bowl park is the second "hidden" part of the Philadelphia level in THPS2, THUG2, and even Proving Ground. It is a well-hidden spot as most of it is out of sight under the bridge. This park has appeared in tons of footage featuring Bam Margera, especially in his Adio and Toy Machine days. Thrasher hosted an event there in 2015, 'Drunk vs. Sober, ' which was total chaos and full of fun! FDR continues to get shredded today and makes regular appearances in videos.
4. SAN FRANCISCO - PIER 7
This legendary piece of manual heaven has been making its rounds on video parts and social media recently, as it's had some restoration work done. Once thin wooden slats, the raised platform is an entire concrete piece. Essentially making it easier to skate as instead of being in line with the slats, you can now compensate and wiggle through your manny's, gaining way more control over a larger surface.
5. MOSCOW - RED SQUARE
This classic level is exactly where your homie gets drunk and decides he can drive a tank; a huge real-world area is unlocked in THUG. The Moscow level was easily one of the best maps for hitting the two-player session on! If you google map the location, you can see GUM, Kremlin, Lenin's mausoleum, and Saint Basil's Cathedral around in the street view. It is not known how likely you will be able to skate this in real life, but you can be sure that you can't joy-ride tanks!
