The Converse Skidgrip is Back!

The Converse Skidgrip is Back!

And Converse is collaborating with Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God ESSENTIALS as well

Some things never go out of style. Other things, well, let’s just say watching any game show from the ‘90s will show you a ton of questionable fashion. The Converse Skidgrip, though, has been beloved for over a century at this point. No, really. The Skidgrip was introduced in 1910, and eventually became known as boat shoes thanks to their no-slip soles. You know who also loves no-slip soles, but maybe can’t afford a boat? Skaters. Eventually, Converse High Tops Skidgrips became the go-to shoe for skaters, surfers, and almost every cool Californian. Time pushed the Skidgrip to the wayside, but no longer. The Converse Skidgrip is back thanks to a collaboration with Jerry Lorenzo.

Lorenzo is an artist and designer known for his Fear of God ESSENTIALS brand, and this new shoe is a collaboration between Converse and Fear of God. They have made some tweaks to the shoe, not everything about the ‘80s is perfect, but it’s the same shoe that has been loved for years in many ways. The high top is back, and Lorenzo has concocted a colorful, dynamic shoe that will pop on your feet. You won’t pop off your board, though. These are Skidgrips, after all. The Converse x Fear of GOD ESSENTIAL Skidgrips are being released August 27. Get ready.
