Undercover Skatepark Project Gets Temp Location

Portsmouth council allow temporary skatepark in old Sainsbury’s
DANNY BROWN  |

Have you ever been walking around ASDA or Sainsbury's and then wondered what it would be like to throw your board down and have a cheeky skate on the irresistibly smooth floor? Then thought about it more and wondered what it would be like if they had the building made as a skatepark instead of a boring supermarket.

Undercover Skatepark Project in Portsmouth has transformed this warehouse formerly known as 'Sainsbury's' (a supermarket for those outside the UK) into a temporary indoor skatepark. The building was being leased, and the council ended up giving the green light for a temporary skatepark to be constructed in its space. Even though it is currently a 'temp' Skatepark, there are progressive encouragements from the community and people who work within the council to make the skatepark permanent.
