KATE SHENGELIYA IS NOT HERE BY LUCK

In the United States, they talk about how many of the best athlete prospects come from the South or the West Coast because of the weather. You don’t get winter down in, say, Florida, which means you can play baseball or soccer or basketball are year long. That’s not true up in places like Minnesota, where snow is getting dumped on you a third of the year. That applies to skateboarding too. It’s way easier to hone your skills under the California sun. So imagine being a skater in Moscow, Russia. That’s Kate Shengeliya’s reality, but she’s not deterred by it.

Shengeliya is the subject of the latest Not Here By Luck video from Nike Skateboarding. The series focuses on female skaters who are, clearly, all across the globe. Shengeliya takes Nike around Moscow to show off some of her favorite skating spots and to talk about skating in Russia. Maybe you can’t do much grinding outdoors during December in Russia, but some folks don’t let that hold them back. Watch Note Here By Luck right, well, above.
