Celebrate Chinese New Year with Nike SB’s New Dunk Low Street Hawker

Chinese food culture is represented all over these shoes

It’s New Year’s Eve all across the globe, but this will not be the end of celebrating the beginning of a new year. Chinese New Year will be celebrated in January, and if you want to join in on the fun, you may want to get your hands on a pair of Nike SB’s Dunk Low Street Hawker shoes.

The Street Hawkers were designed by Jason Deng, an artist based in Guangzhou, China. His concept involves the bonding power of food in China, and he represents that with a variety of colors across the shoes. The left shoe features some beige for flour-based dishes, green for green bean soup, and patterns that call to mind donuts and chopsticks. The right shoe evokes hotpots with metallic colors and splashes of color that speak of flames and boiling chili oil. Now, asymmetrical shoe designs aren’t for everybody. You are definitely making a bold choice when you throw on some Street Hawkers. However, a lot of thought went into these designs, and the shoes definitely stand out.  The Nike SB Dunk Low Street Hawker is hitting some skate shops on January 9, and will be on Nike SNKRS on January 13. Happy Chinese New Year.
