Vans is Continuing Its “Foot the Bill” Initiative in 2021
Last year, flush in the chaos caused by COVID-19, Vans announced an initiative they called “Foot the Bill.” Now, we know that Vans – even though it’s traditionally a skateboarding brand – makes more lifestyle wear these days. A lot of Vans shoes may not stand up to the wear and tear of regular skating. Nevertheless, this is a great cause so we’re behind it. Foot the Bill let independent small businesses design artwork to represent themselves. Customers could then choose from the artwork available and apply it to shoes or t-shirts from Vans. All the net proceeds went to the business chosen to try and help them through the financial concerns caused by the pandemic.
Last year Vans supported businesses across the United States and Europe to sell 20,962 pairs of shoes and raise over $4 million USD. In 2021, Foot the Bill is continuing. Vans will be producing 1,000 pairs of shoes and 250 shirts per partner. The first five Foot the Bill companies of 2021 are all U.S.-based, and they are L.A.’s Guerilla Tacos and the Park’s Finest, Chicago’s Smartbar, Austin’s Red River Cultural District, and Washington D.C.’s Black Cat. In February, in honor of Black History Month in the United States, all companies supported will be Black-owned companies. To help out, and cop some shoes, you can visit the Vans website.
