Vans Has Some Incredibly Huge YouTube Videos
Vans is tangential to skateboarding, like it’s tangential to pop punk, but they have that nostalgia value, and Vans is still connected to skating. They have a skate team and put out videos, though infrequently to be fair. I was curious about their video history and I looked to see what Vans’ most popular videos were and, um, I was floored.
videos with a bonkers number of views. Staggering, baffling, wild viewership numbers. Not just millions, but tens of millions. That’s crazy! Four years ago, a video called Vanguards came out, and it’s a little over four minutes. It has been watched 80 million times. How? Why? Did it get posted somewhere? It just seems like a skate video. Is somebody involved in it I don’t realize has incredible fame? Did I miss Cristiano Ronaldo or Olivia Rodrigo showing up? Then, there’s The Skate Witches, which came out three years ago and it has 72 million views. Most bizarre, three months ago Vans dropped This is Off the Wall. It’s 30 seconds. There is like nothing to it. It has 22 million views. This is the strangest of them all. There has to be something behind this. Watch the videos for yourself. Maybe you can figure it out.
