Vans Honors Black History Month with New Collaborations

Support black artists, get cool shoes
CHRIS MORGAN  |

In the United States, February is Black History Month, and this year for Black History Month the company has picked four black artists to create their own takes on two different classic Vans silhouettes. Three of the artists chose the Slip On, while one went with the authentic. The four artists selected were Detroit’s Sydney G. James, San Francisco’s Rewina Beshue, Oakland’s Chris Martin (big month for the Bay Area, evidently), and Tony Whlgn, whose origins we do not know. You can buy any of these four looks on the Vans website right here. On top of that, Vans’ “Foot the Bill” program is supporting black-owned businesses in February, and the company donated $40,000 USD to the Black Art Futures Fund.
