Taylor Silverman Has Been Fighting For Her Rights After Losing To A Transgender Skateboarder

Taylor Silverman celebrating her win

Many people in the community called her “a sore loser.” They labeled her transphobic because she voiced her opinion and stated that biological males now win women's prize money, which is unfair.

Regardless of free speech or even a strong argument, there was tons of controversy that later erupted, leading to Silverman being hated on from most directions.

Nevertheless, that didn't stop her from fighting as she became a public speaker for women's rights in sports. The House Republicans passed a bill on Thursday that now seeks to prevent transgender women and girls from participating in female athletic programs. Taylor posted the following statement on social media following her win:

Today, the US House passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which affirms that allowing males to compete on women’s teams violates Title IX.

I hope this also serves as an example and an inspiration to governing bodies and contest organizers of independently organized sports like skateboarding to take a stand for female athletes too.

Female athletes deserve fairness, equal opportunity, and respect regardless of which sport they love.
