Shaping Skateboarding Culture
NICK WHITE  |

For half a century, Santa Cruz Skateboards has been rocking the skate scene with their rad boards, innovations, and designs.

It all began in 1973, when Richard Novak, Doug Haut, and Jay Shuirman opened a small shop in Santa Cruz, California. They were surfers who started making skateboards from leftover surfboard materials. But they soon realized that skateboarding was more than just a hobby; it was a way of life.

They started to experiment with different materials, shapes, and graphics, creating some of the most iconic boards in skate history.
