Mike Vallely Celebrates His Move to Des Moines With New Part
Who says skating has to be all about the coasts? There’s more to the skateboarding landscape in the United States than California and New York City (plus a dash of Florida, we suppose). Mike Vallely, a name that has been a big part of the skating landscape for decades, has moved his company Street Plant Skateboards to Des Moines, Iowa. It may not be Los Angeles, but it’s a Midwestern city a lot of folks flock to for a little bit of culture, and now for skating. In fact, soon enough Des Moines will be home to Lauridsen Skatepark, the largest skateboarding facility in the United States. To celebrate Street Plant’s move to Des Moines, Vallely has produced a new video that shows off the skating landscape in Iowa. Sure, the weather may not be as luxurious as LA, but there’s plenty to be said for the Midwest. Check out the video above.
