Jake Ilardi Makes the Local News for Skateboarding

The Olympics bump has already begun!

Get ready to see a lot more skateboarding coverage out there. That’s what the Olympics does for a sport. After all, it gets us to care about swimming and running fast. Sometimes we watch people play curling because it’s part of the Olympics! Skateboarding is going to be getting a lot of love, and that attention is already starting. Jake Ilardi, who is preparing to represent the United States at the Tokyo Olympics, was showcased by the local news in his hometown of Sarasota, Florida. The news wasn’t just interested in the fact that he’s going to be headed overseas to try and win a medal for the U.S. of A, but also because of what he’s doing for the local skatepark where he’s been training. He started a GoFundMe to build a quarterpipe for practice purposes, and he hit his goal in less than a week. Now all he has to do is keep practicing for the Olympics. Check out Ilardi on the news above.
