HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM DOSE SKATEBOARDING!

Stay safe out there!
DOSE CREW  |

As we have mentioned many times before, Dose is based in Berlin, Germany. As such,  many on our crew don’t celebrate Thanksgiving today, or as it is known around the world American Thanksgiving. We don’t eat turkey, watch the Detroit Lions lose, and take long naps. Well, we do take the naps, but that has nothing to do with it being Thanksgiving. However, we know that many of our readers (and video viewers, check out our YouTube page!) are based in the United States. We also have Americans on the staff. So with all that in mind, we wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving if you’re celebrating it!

This has been a weird year. For many, 2020 has been incredibly difficult. The COVID-19 pandemic has messed things up worldwide. Lives have been lost. It’s been so hard for basically everybody. The skateboarding community has certainly been hit by COVID. We’ve lost skating competitions like the Dew Tour. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where skateboarding was to debut, didn’t happen. We never thought we’d see so many quarantine and lockdown themed skate videos. Ugh, what a lame year.

And yet, please excuse the cheesiness, there has been things to be thankful for this year. We’ve seen so many great skate videos and shared them with you. We even produced several videos of our own we are quite proud of. Thanks to all the skaters and filmers that helped with those. We’ve seen some skaters turn pro and we were happy for them. The X Games still sort of happened in their own way. Some cool skaters sat down with interviewers for us. We ran a piece about Bart Simpson being a skating icon a lot of you seemed to really enjoy. Then we tried running other pop culture pieces that were less popular, but hey, we’re all just trying to figure shit out.

So, from everybody here at Dose, a Happy American Thanksgiving. We hope you have at least a couple things to be thankful for this year. We went to YouTube and searched for “skateboarding turkey,” which returned a bunch of clips of people in Turkey skateboarding. Maybe we should have expected that. However, above is a  video from Braille Skateboards where they try and turn a turkey into a de facto skateboard. ‘Tis the season?
