The 1982 cult classic movie ‘Fast Times At Ridgemont High’ is celebrating its 38th anniversary this year with a Vans collaboration. The movie saw a young Sean Penn rocking the Vans checkerboard Slip-On, an upgrade from the original Vans Classic Slip-On which debuted in 1977. Designer Steve Van Doren noticed some kids drawing checks all over their sneakers which served as an inspiration for the now-iconic slip-ons. The Vans were so popularized that Steve Van Doren, himself, gave away the slip-ons at the Hollywood premiere.

Vans has announced the Checkered Classic Slip-Ons being reissued for a limited time for fans all over next month. The iconic sneakers will be produced according to the original design and construction method, and within the Anaheim Factory collection. The Vans Anaheim Factory Slip-On 98 DX uses 10 oz. of checkerboard canvas upper, and each shoe will have the ‘Fast Times’ print along the foxing of the waffle sole. However, there is minor change with the slip being given the modernized twist with Vans UltraCush footbed for ultimate comfort.

Get your limited-time Vans before they sell out in selected Vans stores and online retailers from March onwards.
