Look, when we were young, teenaged skateboarders we had to be “cool” and seem tough. That’s part of the whole skating thing. However, skaters are allowed to be complex. You can let your guard down. So when we tell you that Skater Girl seems like one of those feel-good sports films that may try and get the water works going, it’s OK if that appeals to you. No judgments here. This new film from Netflix is about a teenaged girl in India who finds skateboarding. It’s your classic coming-of-age story that many of us can probably relate to in some way. They also built the largest skatepark in India in order to shoot this movie, which is pretty cool. Skater Girl is hitting Netflix on June 11. Before making any decisions on it, you can watch the official trailer for the movie in the video above. If you feel some tears welling up in your eyes or a lump in your throat, it might be just what you’re looking for. Hell, we imagine even a lot of people not into skating can enjoy it. Who doesn’t like a good underdog sports movie? Jerks, that’s who!
