Watch the Finals of Tony Hawk’s Vert Alert Event

Plus the Best Trick competition

If you are of a certain age, the skating you saw on TV was usually vert skating. Of course, most of us don’t have access to a vert ramp, at least not readily, and these days skate videos and skate competitions are focused more on street skating skills. There’s still room for vert skating, though, and the fact of that style, Tony Hawk, has an event dedicated to that.

Tony Hawk’s Vert Alert is a two-day event that champions the fact it is free, and also the fact it is open to all very skaters. The hope of the event is to allow unknowns get a chance to show up and show out on a vert ramp. There’s a total prize purse of $75,000 on the line, but this year the podium finishers also got to take a step toward qualifying for the X Games. You can watch the replay of the stream of the men’s and women’s finals now, plus the Best Trick competition. It’s three hours of skating action, but maybe you can throw it on and dip in and dip out while you’re working or something. However, you enjoy it, enjoy it!
