VANS AND ANDERSON PAAK COLLABORATE ON AN OLD SKOOL REVAMP

Now in Technicolor

If you are a fan of brightly-colored shoes, and we know many of you are, have we got the collaboration for you. Musician Anderson.Paak and skate apparel icons Vans have joined forces for two new takes on the classic Old Skool design. The looks were evidently inspired by Anderson.Paak’s sons, who are named Soul and Shine. We’ll refrain from commenting on that, because we really dig these shoe designs.

First, there’s the Ziti which reminds us of those parachutes you would play with in gym class as a kid. We’re talking panels of blue, purple, green, and yellow, and yet it doesn’t look too busy at all. Maybe it’s because the colors are played off of by white midsoles and the famed Vans “Jazz Stripe.” These aren’t dull takes on those colors either. The Zitis really pop, and the kids’ version adds some dripping pink on the midsoles as well. Then, there is the Soulito, which is mostly just lavender and white, but the shoe pops with texture instead of color. The Soulito is basically a corduroy shoe in purple, and we apparently really dig that concept.

Paak’s Old Skool designs will be in the Vans store on December 11. They come in men’s, kids’, and toddlers’ sizes. Hey, they were inspired by Paak’s sons, after all.
