Top Tips to Help You Develop Your Own Street Style

Develop a look that you like

The world is full of different ways in which people express themselves, whether it is through music, art, dance, how they communicate and hold themselves in social situations, and of course how they look or present themselves. A major factor in this is how a person is dressed, but it can at times be difficult when trying to develop a look that you like and feels right. Here are a few tips on how to find, develop, feel comfortable, and enjoy your own streetwear fashion style.

Look in local shops and online

One of the first, and easiest steps that you can do when starting to develop your own street style is to look for inspiration in your local clothing shops, or online at brands such as about blank. This way you will get a feel for what is currently being sold, and if you try anything on you will also get a better understanding of how different pieces of clothing sit on your body, how they feel when you wear them, as well as what sizes best suit you.

Look for further inspiration

If looking and trying on clothes has not been enough, something else that a lot of people will do when trying to develop their own style is to look on social media such as Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration. Some might say that this is a lazy way of developing your own style, but as long as you are not copying full outfits, but instead merely using what you see to help define your own style, then this is a perfectly good way to help yourself look and feel unique.

Figure out what hasn’t worked for you

If you are looking to change things up and feel more comfortable about the way you look and dress, it is possible that something you used to do or currently still do hasn’t worked. It could be that you are wearing the wrong type of fit for your body shape, or even the type of material and how it sits on you. Whatever the case may be, think about what hasn’t worked for you in the past, and try to avoid it going forward as it can be easy to accidentally buy clothes that are familiar to you, even if they don’t suit you.

Explore and discover

When finding and developing your new street style you might feel hesitant to explore or discover new clothes that push you out of your comfort zone, but often like anything in life if you are out of your comfort zone you are growing as a person. Make sure that you look at trying out new pieces of clothing or ways to style your outfit as you might be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

Everyone is different, and therefore there is no right or wrong way to look when it comes to expressing yourself through the way you dress. All that matters is that you enjoy the way you look and have fun creating different ways to look.
