This New Nike SB Shoe is a Tribute to the El Camino

A classic car inspires a possibly soon-to-be-classic shoe
CHRIS MORGAN  |

Skater Grant Taylor has done a lot for the Nike SB brand. He’s repped a few of their shoes before, and now he’s the pitchman and inspiration behind the Nike SB Blazer Low GT. It’s a new twist on the classic Blazer, and its look is inspired by Taylor’s affinity for the Chevy El Camino. If you know cars at all, you know the El Camino, and even if you don’t you might recognize it if you saw it. The car is particularly beloved, even though it hasn’t been produced since 1987. Nike’s show is a beautiful combination of different shades of blue with white midsoles, with some racing stripes and font being used in part to pay homage to the Camino. Whether or not you care about cars, the Low GTs are beautiful shoes, and you can already get them in the Nike store for $80 USD.
