Leticia Bufoni in Five Videos

The Brazilian superstar is one of the faces of skateboarding
CHRIS MORGAN  |

Brazil has given the world many famous skaters, but Leticia Bufoni is perhaps the most-famous of them all. She left her native country as a teenager, but Brazil will always be part of her story. While she’s already almost a legend even though she’s just reached her thirties, Bufoni has talked about wanting to spend more time auto racing and less time skating at some point. Not everybody is Tony Hawk, skating until the wheels fall off.

Can Bufoni be showcased in only five videos? Maybe not fully, but to some degree absolutely. Here are five videos to give you a picture of Bufoni and all she has meant to skating.

Why not start at home? Unsurprisingly, Bufoni has a private skatepark in her backyard, and she gave a tour of it to Red Bull a couple years ago.

It’s a little gimmicky, but Bufoni went ahead and took a shot at breaking a world record for the “highest” grind ever. That’s why happens when you grind your way out of an airplane flying at 9,000 feet.

When skateboarding came to the Olympics, Bufoni was there. She took part in the Tokyo Olympics which occurred a year later than intended, and while she didn’t win, you can check out her highlights here.

You know a skater is famous when they are getting called on by GQ. Bufoni got to do one of their videos where an expert in a field watches clips from movies and TV shows and assesses the realism being portrayed.

Lastly, I wanted to find a popular Bufoni video. A lot of the Bufoni-related videos with the highest view count are either influencers popping by her backyard skatepark or about, um, aspects of Bufoni that don’t have anything to do with her as a skater. Going back to Brazil, though, here is a video involving both Bufoni and another Brazilian legend in Bob Burnqvist.
