First up it’s the mighty Muckmouth (@muckmouth), hailing from Auckland, New Zealand. Focusing on contemporary skating, this popular Instagram always packs a punch, featuring some of the best, most tasteful skating from around the globe. Scrolling through their posts you get the sense that Muckmouth understand skateboarding on a visceral level, employing some of the best captions in the gram-game. Take their recent post of Carlos Ribeiro doing a Switch Flip Switch Back Tail into Noseblunt popover, from Nike Sb’s ‘Constant’ video, where we’re blessed with the fruity caption, ‘I’m posting this whilst doing my third poo of the day and it’s only 12.31pm.’ Extraordinary. Since 1999, Muckmouth is one of the most popular and trusted digital hubs for relevant skateboarding, along with skate mixtapes, interviews and video parts.

An Instagram of exceptional visual quality is No Push Lines (@nopushlines), featuring precisely that: skate lines with absolutely no pushing. All killer, no pushing. Their bio leaves no room for doubt with the clear proclamation, ‘NO PUSHING/NO PARK’. Over and out.

Before this Instagram existed, the skate community could only marvel at no push lines on YouTube or in skate parts, so to have some of the best, cruised lines in one place is a real pleasure. And if you can’t get enough of the rolling lines, they even have their own big cartel, selling NPL merchandise. If swooping, special-meter-full kind of lines are your thing, push the button.

Small Talk (@sml_talk) cast a light on positive debate in the skateboarding world, or as they put it, 'Skate nostalgia and constructive criticism’. This personal blog talks style through the ages, featuring skaters old and new. Most of the time the site’s author implores the audience to ‘wrap their head’ around an insane trick, or to just enjoy the simple pleasures of aesthetically pleasing tricks. Small Talk’s posts traverse multiple generations of skate history, so for any skate rat that wants to keep the fire burning with archival stoke, this account is definitely worth a follow. Just think skate classics, era-defining tricks, posted daily, all for your viewing pleasure

f I told you P-Rod, Lucien Clarke, Silas Baxter-Neal, Benny Fairfax and Aaron Herrington all followed Blatant Nostalgia (@blatantnostalgia), you wouldn’t need to take my word for it. You’d trust this Instagram was worth all the gusto of the previous sentence. The relatively new Blatant Nostalgia is a wholehearted place for people who just love skateboarding. The account is under the ‘community’ umbrella and the owner is a ‘thirty-something fan of all things skateboarding'. Having Blatant Nostalgia’s posts pop up on my phone for some weeks, I can confidently say the author has a rich knowledge of skate culture and keenly infuses this with great captions; commenting on the moments we all felt when watching a skater do “that” trick from “that” part.
