Evan Mock Tells a Fading Love Story in a New Short Movie

The model, skateboarder and actor gets around NYC in an experimental video for RIMOWA

Devotees of the approaching Gossip Girl reboot will be psyched that the new show is set to come out on July 8. After being cast in the show, skateboarder, model and actor Evan Mock moved from his local Hawaii to New York City, which serves as the show’s setting. Playing Akeno Menzies in the upcoming series, the relocation marks his first role as an actor.

To put his finger on the pulse of the city, Mock performs in a short film headed No Where for RIMOWA – skating around New York dragging the brand’s Never Still bag. The messenger is a polished crossbody available in four colorways (black, grey, neon yellow, and desert rose). Leather and silver details evoke RIMOWA’s corrugated suitcases.
The unconventional short film thematizes movement around the city. Mock takes the Staten Island ferry, rides the subway, and hitches a ride on the back of an iconic yellow taxi while on his skateboard.

Next to appearing in the film, Mock spoke the film’s voiceover, recalling a little love story. “The voiceover had nothing to do with what we were shooting,” he says. “I liked the contrast of having two different things work out together.”
This was the first time the model, actor and skateboarder had the chance to star, write and co-produce a film. “I’m really grateful to be given the freedom to have an idea and execute it,“ he points out. “I liked the challenge of writing and shooting without knowing what’s going to happen or how it’s going to turn out.”

“Evan’s talent and ambition embody the purposeful traveler that RIMOWA has always designed for, whether it’s our iconic suitcases or the new Never Still bag collection,” states Emelie De Vitis, RIMOWA’s chief marketing officer. “We wanted to give him free rein to create something that represented his own creative journey.”
