Dan Mancina Teaches The Visually Impaired
Encouraging kids with disabilities that nothing is impossible
Daniel Mancina, from Livonia, Michigan, is an intrepid skater who lost over 90 percent of his vision due to a hereditary disease called retinitis pigmentosa (RP), which he was diagnosed with back in his early teens which originally started as a routine checkup. Despite the constant deterioration in his vision, Dan started skating again and continued to follow his passion. Unfortunately, he completely lost his eyesight when he was 23.
Dan later founded "Keep Pushing," a charitable group that wants to introduce the skateboarding culture to people with disabilities.
He's recently been teaching the visually impaired kids in Portland, Oregon, in an activity hosted by Adidas Skateboarding and Northwest Association for Blind Athletes.
