Check Out Nike SB and Familia’s Homage to Minneapolis (While You Still Can)

This is what it sounds like when doves cry, “Cease and desist!”

Some shoes are for wearing, others are art pieces. This seems like it may be the latter, but not entirely because of the choices of the parties involved. Nike SB and Minneapolis skate shop Familia decided they wanted to pay homage to legendary Twin Cities music venue First Avenue. This year marks the 50th anniversary of First Avenue, so it makes sense to pay it homage. They also decided this should mean paying homage to Minnesota’s own Prince. The Purple One filmed part of Purple Rain at First Avenue, so you can guess what color plays a role in these shoes.

Alas, this may be a case where you can see them but you can’t wear them, and you may not even be able to see them for very long. According to Hypebeast, everybody involved was delivered a cease and desist order to prevent them from selling the shoes. We don’t know who it was, and Prince died without leaving a will, so who knows who is in control of his estate these days. All we know is that Nike and Familia’s homage to First Avenue and it’s most-famous concert performer is unlikely to ever hit the shelves, except maybe on the black market. Or, perhaps, the purple market.
