A Lords of Dogtown TV Show is in the Works

The early days of skating will never die

It seems like there are folks who can’t get enough of the early days of the popularization of skateboarding. First, there was Stacy Peralta’s Dogtown and the Z Boys documentary, which introduced a lot of people to the world of skating in 1970s Southern California. This proved intriguing enough to yield a movie, Lords of Dogtown, in 2005. That well hasn’t gone dry, though. It has been announced that there will be a TV show based on, or at least influenced by, the Dogtown and Zephyr crews once more. We say influenced by because it seems like this will be a fictional story about a girl who gets into the ‘70s skate scene in So Cal. The show is a drama, and the pilot will be written by Kat Candler, who wrote and directed the movie Hellion. It’s also being produced by Shawn Ryan, who created The Shield, and the short-lived cult classic Terriers. At the moment, the only place we know it will be is IMDb TV, which is a free, ad-supported streaming service owned by Amazon. You can read more about the details on Deadline.
