Corporate Skateboards Presents, Leave

Turning LA's Urban Landscape into an Playground
CHUCK HARP  |

When one hears the word ‘corporate’ it musters up bland grey images of white guys in business suits surrounded by blank windowless walls. But for those familiar with the LA-based Corporate Skateboards, they know this not to be the case. Trading in stuffy greed with a strong desire for unique spots.

First presented at the Kingswell Skate Shop in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles on April 13th, this art-centric, community-inclusive shop couldn’t be a better location for this premiere. Leave is organized with a green blocked animation by Dension Park, that brings to mind early Game Boy graphics and images of the money making ‘80s nation.

Running slightly over 7 minutes, doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to take away. Showcasing their high-speed aggressive style, the viewer can almost feel their legs begin to wobble as if they were bombing a hill. A major highlight here is the crew’s investment into their flow. Keeping consistency in the face of environmental barriers. There are plenty of instances where they traverse obstacles and landscapes that shouldn’t be possible. But they sure as hell succeed.

Invest in some time and check it out now.
